I am really looking forward to seeing how a former slave wrangler at the HCI adjusts to her own slavery. Especially when she does not appear to have a submissive bone in her body.

Storyteller gives an excellent answer to the question: why the heiress placed herself in a vulnerable position. The answer is a familiar theme in literature:hubris. This question bobbs up in the HCI tales by many of the writers who have branched off Joe Doe's Sandy Foot Girl series.

Oh My god. So happy to read this posting. I was overwhelmed with life crap and just escaped for a bit into this BigD/HCI world and its characters. You and the writers that share the symbiosis of this world need to quit wasting time on things like your own lives, loves (other than writing), taxes, travel, (coffee is OK) and write.
I may be a bit selfish in this, but if you were to commit a crimes that put you into prison (with publishing rights) you might be able to focus on my NEED.
The downside of course is as soon as governments or do-gooders realize I have a need it will either be taxed or prohibited.

This chapter took it up a notch. Full marks 5/5. I didn't like the earlier chapter with the fight scenes and the girl getting broken ribs (too violent for me).
Steve is going to have to help with some modern upgrades to the local, small airport. This will revitalize the local economy and make him immune to criticism from local crusaders against slavery. The local Indian casino will benefit from the airport improvements as high rollers from other states can now land their private jets. Maybe a joint deal with SW Shipping will be mutually beneficial.

Steve could expand into the ponygirl development market, due to the climate in New Mexico.

Steve could set up a recruiting station to rescue girls from possible ICE deportation by offering them a green card in exchange for a 2-year voluntary indenture. His business could explode overnight and outpace HCI.

As for everyone else ... life keeps adding on the 'happy' {sarcasm}.
My neurologist decided to prescribe a more powerful tool to manage the pain in my feet. So, he gave me a foot cream. What wasn't obvious was the non-prescribed 'side effects' of the foot cream which included ... (sigh) ...
Well, as my feet have been hurting like sons-a-bitches, I was slathering that cream on three and four times a day. It had minimal positive effect which was leagues ahead of the pain I was going through. Besides, it was foot cream. What was the worse that could happen?
Baclofen (2%) ~ [Lightheadedness or fainting, trouble seeing, severe tiredness, weakness],
Cyclobenzaprine (2%) ~ [Anxiety, restlessness, seeing or hearing things that are not there, severe drowsiness, fainting, or confusion],
Diclofenac (3%) ~ [Sudden or severe headache, or problems with vision, speech, or walking],
Gabapentin (6%) ~ [Behavior problems, aggression, restlessness, trouble concentrating, moodiness (especially in children), problems with coordination, shakiness, unsteadiness, unusual moods, or behaviors, thoughts of hurting yourself, feeling depressed, dizziness, drowsiness, sleepiness, tiredness],
Lidocaine (2%) ~ [which, somewhat stunningly, isn't trying to fuck with my head]
So I've been staggering around in a semi-lucid state for the past several days, unable to figure out why I couldn't do much, if any, writing. It took me complaining to my wife to provide some clarity.
I repeat - it is freaking foot cream!
I've stopped with the foot-crack and am back to dealing with the pain. Hopefully I'll be back to writing soon too.
