Prednisone 20mg twice a day

Customer: were giving our dog 20mg of prednisone twice a day for 7 days, then once a day for 7 days, then once every other day till complete. My questions are:

My doctor prescribed meclizine and prednisone like last week but I m scared to take them. 20mg of Prednisone twice a day for 5 days. And Meclizine HCL 12.5mg twice a day for 20 days. I m scared to take the prednisone because I heard it makes you gain weight and it s a steroid.
