Switching from effexor to pristiq — I initially took Pristiq and then had to switch to Effexor in order to taper, because Pristiq is even more impossible to safely taper than Effexor, because it only comes in extended release and in impossibly high doses. I spent two whole years searching for a way out of Pristiq before I found I could switch to Effexor!! Then I made the switch to Effexor (pristiq is just the metabolized version of Effexor). Now, I m back on pristiq after being on Effexor for 4 years. I ve been taking pristiq now since April. I didn t have a hard time switching once I got through the Effexor withdrawals. Those withdrawals were the reason I went back to pristiq.
