@Anon Far as anyone knows, souls who die in Hell respawn as a remnant, one of those ghastly ghoulish things growing out of the walls. A killed remnant also respawns as a remnant, and the number on their head goes down by 1. So Hannah has to die 666 times (665 as a respawning remnant) to finish her tenure in Hell. Supposedly, anyway.

7. Souls in Hell have to die as many times as their number, but they only ever spend their first life in Hell as a functioning soul. All deaths thereafter are spent as remnants. A betrayer gets set to 666, and if they die, they spend 665 lives as a remnant.
This story is great fun; it's sexy too. I especially enjoyed the heroine/narrator's personality, including her fairly strong—but decidedly quirky—ethical principles. I do feel sorry for her uncle, though. He got left out of the action entirely. Perhaps there will be a Part 3? Fine with me, if so.
